01/08/08 – The sun finally came back after a few days of clouds, so I went out for a brisk 2 mile walk to enjoy the sunshine and make some vitamin D. 🙂 I like walking… one of my favorite workout DVD’s is Prevention Magazine’s Walk Yourself Fit with Chris Freytag.
12/16/2007 – current weight: 178.2 lbs. This whole year seems to have been a plateau. Ugh. It’s been a discouraging year in terms of weight loss when 2006 was so… not discouraging. But I think it’s my fault… after 2006, I thought it would continue to be easy sailing, but it seems the fitter you get, the more you have to do, so that you continue and not just MAINTAIN your progress. So here we go. I never did make my goal by my birthday. I DID get down to 175 in September, but I’ve regained a few pounds since then. I don’t intend to gain anymore back, so I think it’s time to get serious again. Time to blog about it again, so I feel like I’m accountable to someone. On some good notes, there is some noticeable (to me) tonage in my arms, and I think I’m looking slimmer overall. My focus this coming year will be to tone more and get my upper body strength in balance with my lower body… as it is, push ups are really hard, and my triceps are still jiggly. Another goal will be to tone my midsection more… I may not be able to get rid of the pregnancy stretch marks, but I can certainly get myself in shape so that crunches and other core work are not torturous for me to do. Other goals for me this year: don’t drink so much soda!!! Remember how much you love water and tea w/ splenda; Cook at home more; choose healthier when eating out; don’t let other people’s bad habits influence your own (hubby’s sweet tooth and snacking after dinner habits). Okay, I’ve gone on long enough… does anyone actually read this?
07/11/07 – Weight today: 177.8 lbs. I really wanted to skip my workout today but since I didn’t get my weight training done yesterday (just some light cardio chasing Sean around the playground), I had to add weights to my cardio workout today. I did my Slim and Sleek Fast DVD with Ellen Barrett… I love and really dislike that dvd. I dislike it cause it’s tough… the cardio with all the jumping and moving, and breathing…oy! And I love it because I feel so accomplished after doing the workout since it’s so tough for me to get through. I do look forward to my workout tomorrow though… i’ll get to do some pilates and yoga type stuff for toning. I love how limber it makes me feel, even if it kills my abs. 🙂 My goal right now is 175 lbs by July 24th… my 30th birthday. 2.8 lbs to go, in 13 days… i may not make it, but hopefully i’ll get close.
07/01/07 – I’m down to 178.6 today. It was nice to finally break that 180 mark! I haven’t weighed this little since before I got married! The weight loss has definitely slowed down, but I’m getting more toned, which is cool. I’m trying to get down to 175 by my 30th birthday (July 24th, this year). We’ll see how that goes. I’ve been able to work out regularly for the past month or so. I really struggle with keeping up with it. I tend to see some results, then indulge a little more and slack off until I see the scale start to creep up, then I start working out again. I just signed up on a sight called Traineo.com. You can track your progress and log your workouts and meals. You can also have it email your information to some “motivators” who can hold you accountable for your workout and eating habits. I think I need to up the intensity of my workouts if I want to see some more weight loss. Maybe I need to do more than just 40-45 minutes a day? I don’t quite know, but I need to do something. This plateau I’ve hit has been lasting far too long. I have a doc appointment tomorrow. I’m hoping to have my cholesterol checked to see if it’s improved. I’ve lost some poundage since last check-up, so that’s good.
03/01/07 – I’ve just started working out again after about a month of not doing it regularly. I gained 2 pounds. Bleah! I’m at 183.8 right now. I’ve got 2 workouts under belt for this week. I went jogging/walking for one and did “Slim..Sleek, fast” for another. 2 tough workouts. I’m sore today. Mostly my calves. I will at least complete a 3rd workout this week. My grandma is in town and we were doing a lot of eating out when she first got here. Now we’re trying to eat at home more, and she likes to eat fish and other seafood instead of meat, so that’s helping my diet. Also, I’m learning to love more fruits again… been eating more mangoes, cantaloupes, grapefruits, bananas. I’ve previously thought it was a hassle to eat fruits with all the washing, peeling, slicing, etc. (lame excuse, I know). But now I realize it’s the easiest thing to eat… it’s like fast food made by God! 🙂 So no more excuses… I will get 5 servings a day of fruits and veggies!
01/25/07 – I’m trying to get into the Firm workout DVD’s. They’re a great workout if only I can memorize the choreography. I’ve never had any trouble picking up on choreography in other workouts, so this is rather different for me. I just don’t have enough experience using an aerobic step to know the moves very well. I’m still stuck at 181.2 lbs. I think I’m gaining some muscle mass though. My arms are starting to get more defined (yay!) and I’m noticing that ab exercises are getting a little easier and my abs feel more solid, although there is still a good layer of not so solid stuff on top. After having my c-section with Sean, I could barely do crunches, so I’m pretty happy that I’ve completely recovered from that surgery and I think my abs are even stronger than before I was pregnant. I’ve graduated to using 8 lb. dumbells for some exercises that I had previously only used 5’s. My workout pants are all getting too big for me. All my jeans are too big on me, too… such a wonderful feeling!
01/19/07 – I was browsing some pictures today and was wondering if I do in fact look different than I did before I started losing weight. Here’s a couple head shots I found:
This was taken in April of 2005 when I was about 208 lbs, size 16/18. Sean was about 11 months old. I have no neck, but I do have a spare chin to make up for it. 🙂 This was just before I started buying workout DVD’s and actually exercising every once in a while.
This is me last month in Houston. I guess there has been a noticeable change. I’m about 183 lbs in this picture, size 12/14. I can’t tell you how good it is to be able to wear some size 12’s! Ka-chow! No one ever believes that I weigh as much as I do. I suppose it’s due to having a muscular build… muscle weighs more than fat, ya know. I love when I go to the doctor’s office and get on the scale and they start at around 130… I always have to tell them that they need to start somewhere around 180, and the nurses are always surprised. I’m a heavy girl! I don’t know if I’ll ever weigh less than 170… I think I’ll always weigh more than my husband! Oh well… I also know that I’m a strong girl, if that means being heavier than lots of other women my height, so be it. I’m very happy to have accomplished the weight loss that I have… it’s taken a lot of sweat and effort. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before but it also took some medication. I have a hormonal problem (PCOS) that not only causes infertility, but also causes my body to hold onto fat quite well, even when I exercise. My doc put me on a medication in November of 2005 and it started helping some, but I was still having hormonal issues. After an increase in dosage in June 2006, the poundage started to come off at a more normal rate and the hormonal issues seem to be better… not quite normal, but better. So after some more weight loss, my hope is that the hormonal problems will eventually correct themselves and we’ll be able to have another baby (or 2 or 3).
For this week, I did pretty good staying on the workout wagon. I skipped today because I did 2 hard workouts in a row, and I was sore today. I think I’ll make up for it tomorrow by doing a light workout, or playing in the snow with Nathan and Sean. It’s snowing again! I wanna go snowboarding! So this week, I got 4 workouts under my belt (oh, I went down another notch on my belt, too!) and the week isn’t over yet. Hopefully I’ll get another one in tomorrow.
01/17/07 – Woohoo! I’m already 3/3 this week in terms of my goal of working out for 30 minutes 3X/week. Good on me! I’m addicted to Ellen Barrett videos! Ka-chow! I’m starting to feel that sense of motivation again that I had at the beginning. Somewhere along the line it all became about losing weight, but I remember now that working out makes me feel good physically and emotionally. I’ve battled my weight for so long, but I feel like that’s under control now. So now it’s about living healthier, and if I lose more weight, well, that’s just icing. mmm, chocolate icing.
01/16/07 – So I gained a little less than 2 pounds over the stay in Houston. I was naughty and only worked out twice in the 10 days I was there, and we ate sooooo much tastey food! I’m happy to say, however, that I’m back at 181.2 lbs. Nathan worked out with me today. It’s nice to have a workout partner. Maybe we can start doing DDR again. So my new goal for my birthday in July (#30!!!) is to lose around 15 more pounds. I say “around” because I haven’t been that weight since *maybe* high school, so I don’t know what I would look like or how I’ll feel. I don’t know if that would be pushing it since I’m a pretty muscular type person. But we’ll see. I want to tone up more, I guess that’s the main goal. I guess my real goal will be to work out at least 3 times a week, for at least 30 minutes… every week… from now until I die. Yeah, that’s a good goal. We’ll see what kind of changes that brings to my health.
12/13/06 – The scale still seems to be stuck. Yesterday it was at 181.2 lbs. At least I haven’t gained any weight back. That’s a BIG plus! I’m doubting I’ll make my goal of 175 by the end of the year, but that’s okay. I still feel that I’ve accomplished quite a bit and I’m happy about where my health is today. I still intend to continue on this journey. I think I’ll just continue to chug along with the workouts, and really try to make it a part of my lifestyle. I love it when i finish a hard workout, that I used to not be able to complete… it makes me feel so strong and capable. I LOVE IT!!! We walked/ran to Costco last weekend. It’s a little less than a mile away from our house. The running was actually fun! Of course, afterwards, my ankles were sore, probably because I’m not used to running much. On the last stretch home, we sprinted down our block. I haven’t sprinted full speed in soooo long! It’s really fun! Of course, once I really got going I started thinking about how much it would hurt if I tripped and fell right then . 🙂 HAHA! That’s what happens if you’re clumsy, I guess. So there you have it. This may be my last post on here til the new year. Sean and I are going to Houston for a visit. I’m not taking my scale with me, so we’ll have to see if the “vacation” has any detrimental effects on my weightloss efforts when I get back. Yikes! I’m a little scared! I will of course be bringing my weights and a few DVD’s along, so I’ll still get my workouts in. If you snooze, you lose… or in my case, I’ll gain (weight). 🙂
11/21/06 – The scale is stuck at 181.8 this week. Ugh! Plus, I’m feeling fat this week. It probably doesn’t help that I had 2 servings of my friend’s delicious tiramisu this weekend. Oh well. Guess I’ll just move on. My eating patterns this week have started to improve a bit. I’m not eating a meal if I’m not hungry. Normally, I’d go ahead and eat just because it was “time” to eat. I skipped dinner last night because I wasn’t very hungry. So instead, I had a snack in lieu of a full meal. I’m not doing anything drastic or cutting my calories too low… I’m just trying to listen to my body and eat when I’m hungry.
11/13/06 – I got my new workout DVD – Prevention Magazine’s 3-2-1 Workout. It’s pretty fabulous. It’s non-stop, ever-changing, so you don’t get bored. And as soon as I think my muscles can’t take any more, the workout is done and it’s time to cool down… That’s pretty cool, I wonder if they planned it that way. I weighed myself late last week, and I was down to about 181 lbs. Pretty sweet! I’m a little worried though. Thanksgiving will be a true test of my self control. The good thing is that we’re having TG at our house this year, so I’ll be doing a bunch of cooking. So I’ll have the ability to make some of the Thanksgiving standard grub a little more waist friendly and lower fat. I’m on track to reach my goal and I’m so excited! I also just realized yesterday that I can go down another notch in my belt. You should’ve seen my face when I realized that! I just got back some of my old pants that my mom had in storage. Most of them are size 11/12’s (junior sizes) so I have some work still to do to get into them. I already fit into a few of the old pants, so I’m excited about that.
And here’s my comment about trying all kinds of different things to lose weight or get toned, fit, etc… I’ve tried a bunch and so far, the only thing that has worked AND helped me keep pounds off and muscle on is eating fewer calories (on most days) and working out (on most days). I’ve finally realized that there’s no “magic” solution other than that. There are no teas that will make you lose weight (those are usually diuretics, so it’s only water weight you lose). Weight loss shakes or other meal replacement fluids might help you temporarily, but eventually, you begin to miss REAL food. I still eat anything I desire. The difference is that I try to keep a grasp on portion control, and not go overboard. I still go back for seconds, but those times are coming less and less often. I still drink Soda, but I “try” (sometimes I try hard, others, not so hard) to limit it to a few sodas on the weekends. I try to drink water more often, but I still fall short of my water goal. I still love hamburgers and fries, but our “eating out” budget helps me control that addiction. 🙂 I still indulge in desserts, but I try to limit it to the desserts that I truly enjoy, not just sample EVERYTHING on the dessert table. I still skip my workouts some days, even some weeks, but I always return to them because I’ve noticed that I feel better when I keep up with it. The thing that I really have learned is that it doesn’t really take that much time to get all of this done. I used to use the excuse that “I don’t have time to get in better shape”, but really, I was just spending too much time in front of the tv or computer that could have been put to better use. So now I try to take advantage. I’m also very fortunate to have a spouse that is ALWAYS willing to watch our son and do the dishes if I need to take some time out to do something good for my body. He applauds me and gives me a “good on ya!” when he sees me all sweaty, and he tells me all the time how beautiful he thinks I am. That’s very encouraging! I couldn’t have lost the weight I have if I didn’t have his help. So to anyone that is thinking about starting an exercise program, just do it, but do it healthfully, and surround yourself with supportive people. Since I started working out, intermittently at first, then more regularly recently, I’ve gone from 208 pounds (when Sean was near 1 year old) to 181 pounds (Sean is 2 and a half). I regret spending most of my 20’s in such bad physical shape. I’m turning 30 next year, and I don’t want to spend my 30’s nor the rest of my life, in that shape again. God has blessed me with an able body, and I’ve finally learned to enjoy (most of the time) using it and moving it. And now, I’m better able to keep up with my energetic son… some of my favorite times are running and dancing and playing with Sean. I also look forward to hiking with Nathan and not being so winded that I can barely see the scenery (I’m still working on this one… having endurance is tough). I still don’t know if I could run a mile and not get sick, I think one of these days, I’ll take Sean out to a track in his stroller and try it out. I’m not afraid to try it anymore.
11/04/06 – Today’s weigh in: 183.2 lbs. I regained the fluids lost from my bout with illness, but I still lost about a pound this week. 🙂 I went to the mall last night while my mom had Sean and Nathan was gaming. I tried on several pairs of pants, and found that I can fit into some size 12 jeans now!! How exciting is that? Woohaa! I love it! I haven’t been in a size 12 since Nathan and I first started dating. I almost bought a pair of pants last night, but I though I’d hold off for a bit longer until my size 14’s were much looser. The workouts went well this week. Even today I went for a bike ride and then went walking with Nathan and Sean up in the foothills. I used to get really winded walking up in the foothills, but I did better today. I think my endurance is really starting to improve. There was also a tough hill on my bike ride that I previously had to walk my bike up, but today I was able to pedal all the way to the top. Yay!
10/31/06 – Today’s weigh in: 181.6 lbs. I had a stomach bug last night, hence the rapid weight loss. I know it was mostly fluids lost, but I wanted to record that number anyways… it’s just nice to see it, since I haven’t been any where near that number since we were engaged. It will be motivating.
Update: I felt good enough to do a workout today… did some Fat burning Pilates with Ellen B. Good workout. i noticed that it’s not as difficult as it once was for me when I first purchased it. I almost skipped the workout since I was ill last evening, but figured that would just be a lame excuse since I was feeling fine. Also, after the way I felt yesterday, it was really nice to be able to move and have full functionality of my body again. Praise God for the quick healing!
10/29/06 – yesterday’s weigh in: 184.4… the scale didn’t budge much since last time. We’ve been having these weekly potlucks lately with friends from Church cause we’re all doing a financial seminar together. I must say, it’s hard on the diet! I’ve decided to start up my food journal again. I did this when I first started to work out and try to lose weight, and it worked pretty good. I write down everything that goes into my mouth, so I don’t just “mindlessly” munch on things all day long. Another thing that has helped me is that I’m realizing that not all sweet things are equally satisfying to me. For example, Nathan is a “pie guy”… he loves his pies, except peach. Me, on the other hand, I prefer cakes, pudding, or brownies. This realization has helped me to not go crazy when I hit the dessert table. I now try to pick and choose just the things that will please me the most, and only get a little bit of it to satisfy my sweet tooth… then I drink water to give that feeling of fullness. I’m hoping that this will help with keeping my sweet tooth under control… cause I love it!
I’ve got 9.6 pounds to reach my goal weight (175 lbs.) and about 8 weeks to do it in, since I wanted to reach that goal before the beginning of 2008. I’m starting to feel the “pressure”… almost like in college when finals were coming up, and I feel like I haven’t studied enough. It’s gonna be pretty tough with the holidays (mainly, Thanksgiving… love those mashed taters!) coming up, but I think I can do it. I just need to get the enthusiasm back that I had when i first started. And so, tomorrow begins a new workout week. I’ve promised myself that even if I don’t feel like doing a difficult workout, I will AT LEAST do one of my easier, fun ones, and play hard with Sean. My goal this week: 4 cardio workouts, 2 strength/toning workouts
10/20/06 – It’s been a while since I’ve updated… I fell off the workout wagon for a bit, but am getting back on this week with 4 workouts for the week. Today’s weigh in: 184.6 lbs. I did one of those BMI calculators online and it gave me 27.5… I’m no longer obese! 🙂 I’d really like to know my body fat %, and get that down to a normal level.
That new “Method” dvd I blogged about last time is okay. They give detailed instruction for each exercise before you perform each one, so that makes it move kinda slow once you’re familiar with the moves. They should have had a separate option in the menu for “instructions” and another one for the actual workout. But it’s a pretty tough workout. I haven’t been able to get through the whole ab’s part without resting for a bit. yowzah!
I’m back in my size 14 pants again, and some of them are getting loose. 🙂 I still have 10 pounds to go before my goal weight and deadline of the end of the year. I think it’s time to crank up the workouts and get serious again. I went to the dentist yesterday and my regular hygenist said that I look like I’ve lost a ton of weight since she saw me last. That’s always nice to hear!
08/16/06 – Today’s weigh in: 189.2 lbs. Did my Yoga/Pilates Fusion DVD with Ms. Ellen Barrett. I’m loving that workout! I also just ordered The Method – The Stability Ball Workout from amazon. Nathan ordered a game, so I went ahead and got that workout so we could get free shipping. I’d rather have our money go to product, than for shipping. I’m sure it’s just a trick to get you to buy more, but oh well. I would have wanted that dvd anyways. I haven’t been regularly exercising the past couple weeks, but this week, I’ve been on the ball, so hopefully my weightloss will pick back up. Mom said my shoulders look like they’re narrower and that she can tell I’m getting toned. If anyone will give me an honest view of my shape, it’s her. She’s known for her frankness… I think it’s got something to do with filipino culture. I remember one time I met a filipino man at a filipino party. I said “nice to meet you” and he said “we’ve met before… a long time ago, when you were thinner”. Boy, that was a blow. Too bad I didn’t have the old man from Wild Oats with me, who I met once and he said, “you are a strong woman, both mentally and physically”. Now that was a RIOT! makes me giggle when I think of that!
07/31/06 – I tried my new Crunch: Pilates/Yoga fusion (w/ Ellen Barrett) workout tonight. It started out very relaxing, but it really got me working by the end. Apparently, I have very little inner thigh strength… those exercises were the toughest. I had a lot of fun doing the workout. Doesn’t give much of a cardio workout (which is expected), but I think it’ll really help with core strengthening and even flexibility. Anyways, this was a welcome workout after a week of doing nothing.
07/30/06 – Vacation is over… 3 pounds gained (yikes!). Tomorrow starts the seriousness all over again. No more soda. More green things. No pizza for a while. I feel tired. Proabably it’s due to my bad diet and inactivity this week. That’s what I’ll tell myself so that I get back on the ball. My sis-in-law is coming over to work out with me on Tuesday. Yippee!
07/25/06 – Birthday cake is gone… Now I can get on with the decent diet. 🙂 Nathan got me the new pilates/yoga DVD by Ellen Barrett (she’s my favoriteworkout gal). I haven’t tried it yet, but I watched some of it today to get familiar with the moves. Looks like a fun, but tough workout. I’ll probably have sore abs after doing it.
07/10/06 – I’m currently recovering from a 3 day hamburger binge. Fast food is my weakness. I love hamburgers and fries and soda along with it. But the good new is that I’ve picked myself up and dusted off the french fry crumbs, wiped the mayo from my mouth and am ready to start again. I worked out this afternoon… Did some slim and sleek fast video. I may try to do another short session tonight if I feel up to it. I’m still trying to fight off this cold thing that’s been going around lately. I haven’t officially gotten it, but I feel my neck glands are a bit swollen, so my throat is a bit sore. My body is sure trying to fight it off. That reminds me, I need to take my vitamins… nothing weird, just my usual multi-vitamin. I’ve just been eating so badly lately that I’m probably lacking in vitamins A thru Z. 🙂
07/07/06 – This week has been a not so great one for working out. Sean has gotten both Nathan and I sick. So I’ve been trying to take it a bit easier. We did go hiking last weekend, and I did some walking while shopping too, but other than that, it’s been a break from formal working out. Weighed in the past 3 days to make sure that I wasn’t gaining weight while on hiatus. Results? consistent 192.8 lbs. Wahoo! Also tried on all my size 14 pants and they fit! Well, some of them are still more snug than I like, so I still have a ways to go, but at least I could get them on and zipped without having to “suck it in”.
06/26/06 – Since Gina and I stayed up with my brother until 5 am, we didn’t go walking and rollerblading this morning with Tita Toots. I did go over to the track nearby this afternoon and do some walking and running for a while. I ran the straights and walked the curves on the track. There was some type of track day camp thing going on and the kids really made me feel outta shape cause they ran the track so easily and quickly.
06/25/06 – I’m visiting Kansas. This morning, my cousin and I did about an hour and a half of dvd’s. I was a tired and sweaty girl!!! But I owed it since I skipped yesterday’s workout. Tomorrow I’m planning to walk/run while Tita Toots bikes and Gina rollerblades. I guess yesterday was my day off, instead of Sunday.
06/22/06 – Still been sticking to schedule. Workouts have been comprised of various workout videos, walking the dog, rollerblading, weight training, and the usual. My morning weigh in today was 193.2 lb. That was before eating. I tend to gain a couple pounds by the end of the day from eating and maybe water weight (?). I’m going out of town this evening. I still plan on sticking to the workout schedule… 6 days on, then Sundays off. Shouldn’t be too difficult. I can always jus go walking if I can’t do a video. My main concern while on vacation will be my diet, but my Aunt Toots is a great cooka nd one of my cousins that will be there is a vegan, so I shouldn’t have a problem eating healthy. My jeans are starting to fit me looser, so that’s very exciting. My arms look like they’re getting more toned, too. Now if only I could shrink me humongoid feet! 🙂
06/16/06 – Wednesday: Fat burning pilates dvd plus weights. Thursday: Winsor pilates maximum burn cardio workout, plus took dog for walk. Today: 25 minute walk with Sean in stroller. Went to a potluck barbeque birthday party today. I skipped the hamburger and hotdog and had salmon instead, along with various salads. I also just HAD to have a few cheetos. Nathan took them from me and gave them to Sean (on my request) before I finished my handfull. Also had some homemade ice cream and birthday cake. Very tastey! I didn’t do that great in terms of sweets consumption, but I did better than I normally do, so that’s a plus. I do not feel guilty about the amount I ate, and I was not overly stuffed. I wanted another piece of birthday cake, but I resisted. That’s an accomplishment for me. 🙂 I’ll do a hard workout tomorrow, and play volleyball on Sunday. That should get me back on track. Potlucks are the hardest social gathering for me in terms of portion control. There’s just so much I want to taste.
06/13/06 – Took a nap while Sean napped this afternoon, so I had to squeeze in the workout after Nathan got home from work (he took Sean to the playground, so I had free time). I took the dog for a quick walk, came back home, then went on a bikeride. Afterwards, I met up with Nathan and Sean at the park, then did a quick walk around the park while they played. Came home, watered plants, then did some upper body weights. Feeling pretty good.
06/12/06 – Saturday I skipped the walk and instead played at the park with Sean and Nathan. Sunday was the day off, and I didn’t do so great diet wise… Potluck… need I say more? Today I did Bikini Ready Fast DVD. It includes lower leg work, so I skipped the lower body weight training. I’ve realized that it’s not so hard to work in at least 30 minutes of exercise everyday. I’ve just been making up excuses to not do it. I think I’ve run out of excuses.
I’m happy to say that after about 2 weeks of regular exercise, I feel like I have more energy, sleep better, and I feel happier. Weight check (after potluck slip up) : 197.2 lb. Anyways, the point is, I’m realizing that I should exercise to keep up this feeling, and not get into a “slump” where I feel lazy and want to nap all the time. The weight loss is just icing on the cake. What kind of cake? Definitely chocolate. Also, (warning: this is getting a little personal, and into girl talk) I think that working out will help my infertility issues due to PCOS. AF finally came for a visit after avoiding me for 2 and a half months. Maybe now she’ll come see me regularly. I also wore a pair of jeans of mine that were a size 14 this weekend… that was exciting! I didn’t even have to struggle to button them! 🙂
06/09/06 – Didn’t get up early yesterday or today. I figured since the workout only called for a walk, I’d take Sean for a walk or do an aerobics DVD. Yesterday, I did Crunch Cardio Salsa and ab work. Today I kept putting off working out, even while Sean was napping, I didn’t do much aside from some laundry. I’m glad to say that I didn’t back out of working out. I put Sean to bed and then got my perspiration gear on and huffed and puffed through Slim and Sleek Fast, then did some upper body work.
06/07/06 – didn’t get up early. I was planning on going swimming today, so I skipped my walk this morning. Turned out, it rained and the pool had to close, so no swimming. Did Pilates Burn & Firm dvd instead.
06/06/06 – 7:10 wake up again. This time for a walk/run cardio circuit. 3 minutes walking, 30 sec. of running (repeat 4 times). I was glad to learn that I could run for more than 30 seconds at a time. I think I need to pick up some 10 lb weights. weighed in today: 196.6 lb (probably water weight lost)
06/05/06 – 7:10 AM – woke up with Nathan and headed out for a 25 minute walk while he got ready for work. It was nice being out while it wasn’t too hot yet and the birds were chirping and I saw a bunny rabbit at the park. Did some weight training for lower body this evening. My legs are a bit sore.
06/04/06 – Friendly game of volleyball after church. Always nice when exercise is fun and done with people you love.
06/03/06 – And so we begin (again). Here I go. I’ve got about 25-30 pounds to lose. I’m clinically classified as “obese”, however some people say I’m just “big-boned”. Here’s the stats:
starting weight: 198.8 lbs
dress size: 16
my goals: 25 lbs loss by the end of the year, manage my PCOS, be able to run a mile without getting sick.
This week’s workouts: Monday – swimming, Wed- Firm video featuring the transfirmer, Fri – walk, Sat – walk
This was a good start, but I’m planning on starting a “lose a size by July 4th” plan put together by prevention magazine. I’ll be starting on Monday, June 5th. I’ll post updates soon. I may post a “before” picture soon as well.

[…] I also got a new workout DVD. It’s from the series put out by Prevention Magazine. I’ll post about it on my weightloss page and workout dvd review page. I sat and watched it all the way through, and eventually got motivated to move since it looked pretty fun. […]
