Sean and I are going to visit relatives in Lawrence, Kansas for several days. I lovingly refer to them as the “Kansasians” (Kansas Asians). Not all of them are filipino, really… but they could be considered “asian by association” or “ABA”. Yes, that really is a term used by some people. A lot of my friends growing up were ABA’s. They would attend all the filipino gatherings and loved all the food, and most of their friends were filipinos or other asian americans.
