We went hiking in Jemez Springs this past weekend. It was nice, aside from initially getting caught in some thunder and lightning and having to run back to the car. There were people swimming at a place called Soda Dam and other people soaking in the hot springs that we hiked to later. Pretty forest around there, I must say. I took a spill on the hike back down from the hot springs. That was not fun, but thankfully no major injuries.
I read an article that if you swim or soak in the hot springs, you shouldn’t dip your head in the water or make sure that no water gets up your nose. There is apparently an amoeba that is found in the waters there called Naegleria Fowleri that can go through your nasal membranes and cause a brain infection… nice.
