Sean is beginning his potty training in earnest. He is wearing big boy underwear around the house, and doing wonderfully. I’m beginning to think the diapers and pull-ups are more of a hindrance to him because he can’t tell if he’s wet… even in the pull-ups that are supposed to make them feel cold when they get wet. Anyways, as a method of additional motivation, we’re letting Sean blow out his “potty candle” after he successfully completes a mission. We even sing, “for Sean went to the potty…” to the tune of “For he’s a jolly good fellow”. He loves it! I’ve also heard of people allowing their kids to call their favorite character (ie: Elmo, Cookie Monster, etc.) on the phone whenever they use the potty. The only problem with that, is that you have to bug one of your friends or relatives on the phone every time. I think the calling a hero trick was part of Dr. Phil’s potty training method.
