Did you know that Albuquerque, NM was voted the #1 fittest city in the US by Men’s Fitness Magazine for 2007? Judging was based on population habits, such as nutrition and exercise habits, AND environmental factors, such as air quality and parks. Now in terms of nutrition, I’d think that we all still eat too many cheese-laden enchiladas and wash them down with the honey on our fried sopaipillas. (Oh wait… is that just me?) I’m wondering if we pulled ahead because of air quality and our parks system. We probably have pretty decent air quality compared to the other large cities in other states, and our parks are pretty nice. I’d be pretty interested to find out what the actual percentage is of the population in Albuquerque that works out at least 3 times a week, for 30 minutes.
