Warm Weather Wishes

It’s taken me 30 years to realize that I don’t like winter. I don’t like to be cold, and be indoors all the time. I’m ready for spring. I’ve been ready for springtime to come again since the beginning of December. There, I said it.

Chocoffee

I mixed instant coffee with a packet of hot chocolate… the result was a yummy mochaccino type drink. mmm. Plus, the warm mug warms your hands while you drink it. Bonus. Did I mention that I’m ready for spring?

Kelly Ripa… ripped

Has anyone noticed how incredibly buff Kellly Ripa’s arms have become? Yeah, I want to do that… that’d be cool. Is there, like, some kind of pill I can take for that? 🙂

Broadway On Ice

We got comp tickets to “Broadway on Ice” last Friday from Nathan’s work. The seats were not great, but it was still entertaining for me and Nathan. Sean was ready to go home once he realized he was not skating, but that we were going to watch other people skate. “Let’s go home now” came out of his mouth more than once while we were there. Nancy Kerrigan stepped in to fill in for Dorothy Hamill. We were wondering if Kerrigan might be expecting. And if she is, i really hand it to her to be so athletic and active while expecting. The Phantom dude was there singing (Frank D’Ambrosio) various Broadway showtunes. I have to say, I enjoyed Gerard Butler’s voice as the Phantom in the 2004 movie version much better. Yes, I know he has no formal vocal training, but I thought his voice matched the character better.

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

I made some cinnamon rolls from scratch for the first time tonight. Wow, what a process it was, but it was well worth it. I used a RECIPE from the “Pioneer Woman Cooks!” website. I just happened across it today and enjoyed reading the recipes and I liked that she uses such common ingredients. I ran into a few complications throughout the process. First off, I think I rolled the dough too thin, so I had a hard time rolling the dough to make the cinnamon rolls because it wouldn’t stay round as I rolled it… it would just become… well, kinda flat. Also, while I was rolling, it seemed like ALL the stuff (cinnamon, melted butter, and sugar) I had spread on the dough was squishing out, so I was afraid there would be no more filling left inside. The squishing out of the filling was very messy… I think i used up a half a roll of paper towels to keep from dripping on the floor. I think instead of melted butter in the filling, I’ll use softened butter so that it’s spreadable, and less squishy as I roll the dough. Aside from those problems, it was pretty fun to make them. Nathan and Sean really liked them, so that’s a plus. Oh, another thing, if you’re not wanting to make a ton of rolls, cut the recipe in half. I made about 2 dozen rolls from only half the dough. Then I ran out of cinnamon, so I need to get more cinnamon so I can use the rest of the dough. Thankfully, the dough can go into the refrigerator for a day or two. Oh, and by the way… there was still more than enough filling left in the rolls, even after so much squished out. They were delicious!

Weight Loss Blog Revival

Yeah, so it’s been several months since my last post on my weight loss blog, and a pretty slow year in terms of fitness progress, so I feel it is time to revive my blog since it helps me feel more accountable to all of the people (person? imaginary friend?) who read it. So go read it! 🙂 And feel free to leave me comments especially if you have a favorite workout you like to do… I’m always looking for new things.

French Knot, Whoo-hoo!

I’ve been trying to teach myself how to do hand embroidery by reading books, and looking at websites. I’ve learned quite a few of the stitches, relatively easily, but I’ve always had trouble with the “french knot”. Well, my friends… I finally made a french knot today. Whoo-hoo! I’m now ready to use my french knot knowledge to make cute mini blossoms and perty little flower centers. I’ve always loved the look of vintage linens (towels, table cloths, napkins, etc.) that had hand embroidery. I think I’d like to really master this embroidery thing and perhaps sell my creations. So there you have it. French knot, Whoo-hoo!

Sick Laddy

Our Lad is sick at the moment. He’s come down with a super coughing consumption virus. He sometimes has these coughing fits and then starts to panic and can’t catch his breath. He actually woke up this morning and had a big cough and his lips actually turned a little blue. Not good. I called the nurse line and the nurse said that if he has another one of those blue lipped episodes, we should take him to see the doc, but so far he hasn’t had another.

Did you know that New Mexico has a 24/7 nurse line that you can call for medical advice even if you don’t have health insurance? 1-877-725-2552 That number is handy for us folks that have wee ones that get sick every winter and we’re not sure if a cold is serious enough to warrant a visit to the doctor. yeah, free medical advice = good.
