5 Year Anniversary

Tomorrow will be our 5th wedding anniversary. Today, I picked Nathan up at work and he had a bouquet of flowers for me. We went out to eat at Yasmine’s Mediterranean restaurant (TASTEY!), then came home. I was checking my email and Nathan called me into the living room to see “something”. He told me I could have a seat because it was a “musical number”. I thought he was going to show me something funny on the tv. He walked over to the computer, pressed a button to start some music, then proceeded to serenade/lip synch to “I love you” by Vanilla Ice!!! I cracked up laughing while also tearing up cause it was so sweet… so like Nathan to do something so silly to show how much he loves me. I couldn’t believe he memorized the words!!! I love being married to him. Oh, he also signed his card that he gave me “Nathan Ice”. 🙂
Nathan is taking the day off tomorrow and we will go see a movie and go out to dinner. Sean is sleeping over at his cousin, Sarah’s, house tonight and tomorrow night.

Sean’s word of the day

Everyday Sean says a new word that I didn’t know that he knew. Today’s word is “plenty”. While at my mom’s restaurant today, we were all eating some bread. My mom had to put her bread down to wait on a customer, so she put it on Sean’s napkin. He thought she was giving it to him and he said, “Thanks, I have plenty”. Then today at Costco, I tried to keep Sean occupied by having him count the shopping carts. He said, “1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10, there’s plenty, mommy!” I cracked up laughing.

He missed you Chuck E. Cheese

My mother has taken Sean to Chuck E Cheese several times in the past few months. He’s now become addicted to going there. My mom was gone to the Philippines for a month and the first thing he said to her when she got back was, “Go to Chuck E. Cheese, Lola”. (Lola means “grandma” in filipino). Well, today, he got his wish. My mom took off a few hours to take him to CEC, and I’m sure he’ll be returned along with all kinds of small toys that will be broken within the first few days of playing with them.

Embarrassing 2 year olds

I don’t know if all 2 year olds do this (probably not), but Sean has this habit of touching people out of nowhere. Sometimes it’s a pat on the leg, sometimes on the bottom, sometimes just a poke in the arm, then he walks away and doesn’t say anything to them, just smiles. I’ve tried to tell him that this is inappropriate behavior, but that doesn’t stop him. Well, today while at Jiffy Lube, Sean started touching the lady sitting next to me on the leg. She was wearing shorts, and he just rant his hand up and down her leg once. The lady looked at him and said “They’re hairy, huh?”… Indeed, her bare legs were hairy. I was so embarrassed.

Wiggles Safari and other stuff

In recognition of the late Steve Irwin, I bought Sean his first Wiggles DVD. It is the “Wiggles Safari” which features Steve and Terri Irwin and their daughter, Bindi. I’m sad that the Crocodile Hunter is gone… I’ve really enjoyed his shows. Sean watched the video today and he seemed to enjoy it. He always likes shows with animals and enthusiastic people. Add singing and dancing to that, and you’ve got him hooked for the whole 45 minutes!
We had a nice long weekend for Labor Day. Nathan took an extra day off, so we got to spend 4 whole days together. It was pretty cool. Check out my Flickr page for some pictures from our weekend. We rode the Rail Runner train. The trains are pretty fancy. every other seating area has a small table and an elctrical outlet so you can plug in your laptop. Nathan said they have wireless internet too. We also went to visit Nathan’s grandparents. That was fun. We walked a bunch and found peacock and guinea feathers and got to feed the horses, too. The next day, we went to Sandia Crest and hiked from the Crest to the Tram and back. It’s about a 3 mile hike, roundtrip, so it took us quite a while with Sean in tow. He wanted to be carried a bunch on the way back from the Tram, so that took forever. We had fun checking out all the different mushrooms that are up there right now. Sean really enjoyed hitting the puffballs with a stick and watching the “smoke” (spores) come out. He thought he was making fire. Finding more puffballs was Sean’s motivation to continue hiking, even when he was really tired.
