easy chatting

This site lets you IM without having to download a program. I haven’t tried it, but I chatted with my cousin while she used it. Guess it works. Of course, you have to become a member to use the site.

Aggressive Literati player

I tried to play Literati with a stranger the other night. There was a 3 minute time limit per turn. After taking longer than a minute for a few turns, the person told me, “please don’t take forever on every turn!”. I said, “There’s a 3 minute limit per turn, eh?” Then my rude opponent said something that insinuated that I’m so dumb that I have to take forever. So then I said I’d take forever just to annoy them. I waited a long time cause it was my turn, then I left the game. Why they think that I would want to play with them if they were just going to be rude? Ummm… I don’t like to spend my free time with irritating people, even if it’s online.

Yahoo Scrabble

I downloaded a trial version of the new Yahoo Scrabble game. I don’t like that it gives you another chance if you try to play a non-word. It just tells you that the word isn’t found int he scrabble dictionary, then you can try again. I think it should automatically penalize you and you should lose your turn. I played against the “computer” and there are different difficulty levels you can choose. Depending on the level, the computer will play words that will equal an average number of points per word. For example, The beginner level computer will play words that average about 10 points per word, but sometimes they’re really hard words that a beginner wouldn’t really play. Overall, I think I like the good ole’ boardgame the best still.

More rain for the Duke City

We got a bunch more rain this evening. It prevented us from going to church tonight. We left the house, but turned around pretty quickly when the roads were flooding and we could barely see through the windshield. So we came home and stood on our back porch and watched the water flood around it. Unfortunately, our backyard slopes toward the house, so it all pools up right at the back patio. If this rain keeps up, we may have to do something about that. Thankfully though, it looks like we’d have to get more than 6 inches of rain all building up in the backyard for it to reach into our house. I doubt that would happen… and I hope it never does.

Missing Cap’n hat

I saw an elderly man yesterday driving in his fancy silver-blue convertible, smoking a cigarette with one of those old time cigarette holders. Nathan said the only thing missing was a Captain’s hat. Pretty odd site it was.

Near accident

I witnessed a near accident this morning. Three cars were driving down an acceleration ramp to the freeway. The lead car suddenly decided not to accelerate and merge with freeway traffic, but instead come to a full stop. The middle car slammed on his breaks, swerved to the right (where there was a wall), then back to the left to avoid the wall. The last car slammed on his breaks, swerved to the left (where there was freeway traffic, including me), then back to the right to avoid hitting other cars on the freeway. Thankfully, no one was actually hit, thanks to the drivers’ good reaction time.

Freecycle

I’ve started to experiment with using Freecycle.org. It’s a Yahoo group where memberspost messages about what they have to give away for free, or what they are looking to get for free. Pretty neat idea. So far, I’ve offered Cookie’s old dog bed and some free flower seeds. I have yet to recieve anything yet. You have to be quick to respond to get the things that are offered.
